What's the purpose of having a front splitter for your 2022 WRX?

An automotive front splitter is a modification typically found at the front of the car, containing a protruding flat surface acting as a firm extension of the front bumper. There are many different configurations as far as their aesthetic, and utilized material. The design and purpose mainly aimed at decreasing front-end lift, which would equate to numerous performance benefits. When a car reaches higher speeds, it will accumulate air pressure build-up at the front of the vehicle. All of this air will end up going both above the car, as well as below the car (under the front bumper). When excess amounts of this air build-up, the under-car air pressures build up. This increased air pressure contributes to lift, which causes the front end of the vehicle to lift up. This results in decreased traction on the road & a compromised handling characteristic. The key to alleviating this is creating positive downforce. The splitter forces the high-pressure air upwards where it builds up around the bumper, and ultimately migrates this pressure over the car resulting in reduced lift. The splitter is typically supported by rods to ensure that the splitter stays parallel to the ground, rods will also assist with the outside forces and elements endangering the integrity of the splitter.

OEM style for less!

This red lip kit really pops with the wr blue and I love the look! The install for the front lip was extremely straight forward as it fit well with the pop clips. The skirts/splats took me a minute to get the orientation right haha. It would be nice to have some basic instructions, even just a quick 1 pager with a schematic. I think the quality of the lip kit is phenomenal and beats OEM pricing for sure. I give this 5 stars on looks!

-1 star with the self tapping screws being my main complaint, it's a guaranteed way to pop your tires or someone elses down the road... literally. I used to screws to get initial fitment and alignment and opted for some beefy 1/4" bolts and nuts w/ loctite. Easy enough to swap out, but I know some will be lazy to swap out hardware for something better (bolts/nuts, rivets, riv nuts, pop clips). Screws just won't last and will vibrate out and cause some damage. Front lip I was able to install without taking bumper off, but could be easier if you do. Skirts were easy to take off to get to other side for nut. Splats were the easiest to swap out screws and super straight forward.

2022+ WRX V-Style Body Kit - CARBON Version

I was interested in the S-Style Lip inn a carbon fiber version which is not available. Thanks to AeroFlow's YouTube channel, I found about their new V-Style Lip Kit in carbon and I bought it right away! The styling is subtle and not too loud, just the way I like it. It come with the lip, side skirt, and rear spats all in carbon.

Installation is not difficult if you're somewhat handy. If you have a Jerry, it will make it easier. Note that there are a couple of holes you can enlarge on the lip and on the rear spats with a drill so you can use the factory push pins to help align and secure these parts if you wish do to so; If not, you can simply use the provided self tapping screws.

My car is lowered 1" on the rear and 1 1/4" on the front and there has been no scraping! I still angle most speed bumps and going in and out of inclines just to be sure to protect the carbon lip. I love this kit so much that I am pairing in with the V1 Carbon Duckbill Spoiler. I can't wait to receive to complete the look I am going for.
